What’s the best way to beat the summer heat? Swimming, of course! There’s just nothing better than immersing one’s self in the cool, invigorating water of a lake or swimming pool when the temperature is on the way up. Especially for kids, it’s just good, clean fun! Not to mention, it’s one of the best exercises for the heart, lungs, arms, legs and core muscle groups. What a great way to exercise!

The Upper Midwest gets hot and steamy in the summertime. People living in and around De Smet are lucky. There’s a pool on Loftus Avenue and it’s open to everyone from early June until mid-August. What a great place for kids to blow off some steam! There are also swimming lessons offered in two sessions by the Red Cross so kids can develop their swimming skills. That’s something they’ll use throughout their entire lives!

A swimming pool is one of those places where memories are made that last a lifetime. It’s a great place for kids of all ages to spend some time. Go ahead. Take the plunge. You’ll feel great and get some exercise in the process!
