As both the De Smet Community Foundation and the De Smet Development Corporation continues the town’s rapid development push, their efforts got some significant help from the Bush Foundation with a $287,971 grant awarded Tuesday.
By receiving the grant, the joint party was just one of six successful applicants out of a group of 66 throughout the Upper Midwest to receive grant funding from the Bush Foundation through the latter foundation’s Bush Prize for Community Innovation.
“We’ve always prided ourselves on being an innovation community here in De Smet. Now to be recognized for it is just awesome,” DSCF and DSDC representative Rita Anderson said. “This is going to let us showcase De Smet and how progressive we are and all the things we have going on.”
