UltiMed, Inc., a medical supply manufacturer, will expand operations at its De Smet facility, Gov. Mike Rounds announced.
The company produces insulin syringes for diabetics and is moving into the growing pen needle market. UltiMed also manufactures other healthcare and veterinary products.
As part of its expansion, the firm expects to add 40 full-time positions within three years and is purchasing new equipment, including a pen needle machine and packager. The equipment will allow Ulti-Med to produce and package pen needles stateside. Historically, these products have been produced overseas.
