Ken Roeder retires from American Bank and Trust

A large crowd was on hand Nov. 10 help Ken and Suzanne Roeder celebrate his retirement at the Kingsbury County Country Club.


Roeder will officially retire as president at American Bank and Trust in De Smet at the end of this year.


Kim Banks, senior vice-president, will take over as president.


Roeder said he will move into one of the back offices and still work part-time at the bank, but he won’t have a set schedule.


Roeder and his family moved to De Smet from Sioux City, Iowa in 1983, when he accepted a position as president of Peoples State Bank.



Peoples State Bank became American Bank and Trust in October 2011.


Roeder said he looks forward to ice fishing, hunting, and having more time to spend at their cabin in the Black Hills, and with their three daughters and eight grandchildren.
