Students experience interactive space travel
Wednesday, January 23, 2013
Krista Testin, a space science outreach teacher from The Journey Museum in Rapid City, brought the museum’s traveling planetarium to the Laura Ingalls WilderElementary School Armory Jan 17-18.
Pre-school through high-school science students experienced interactive space travel through Testin’s presentation.
Testin brings the dome-shaped inflatable planetarium to South Dakota schools to teach students about Earth and our place in the solar system.
Students lie on the floor inside the dome and watch a video that gives the feeling of travelling through space.
The museum’s Journey into Space presentation is funded through an education grant from NASA.
