A steer did escape from the grounds and headed south on Lyle Avenue for a bit before it was recaptured, but otherwise, this year’s 4-H Achievement Days went smoothly according to 4-H youth advisor Aren Field. All shows occurred from July 31-Aug. 2.

The weather was perfect most of the week despite a few episodes of rain. Participants largely avoided the excessive heat — apparently as much as 100 degrees in the shade — that previous attendees have, on occasion, experienced at this event.

“We were down a little in exhibit numbers this year,” said Field. “But we had very high quality.”
