U.S. Senator Tim Johnson (D-SD) had a sit-down with representatives from Horizon Health Care, Inc. Aug. 21 at the recently completed De Smet Community Health Center. Among the attendees was Horizon Healthcare CEO John Mengenhausen who personally led Johnson on a tour of the new facility.

“It was a great honor to have Senator Johnson take time out of his busy schedule to meet with us and tour our new De Smet Community Health Center,” said Mengenhausen. “Senator Johnson has been a longtime supporter of Horizon and is one of the main reasons De Smet Community Health Center exists today.”

Mengenhausen highlighted the updated dental facilities at the new clinic and showcased Horizon’s up-to-date telemedicine tools.

“Even with Avera in town,” he said. “There is still a population that struggles to access healthcare.” It is those people Mengenhausen hopes to serve, focusing on preventative medicine.
