De Smet defeated the 9-0 Sully Buttes Chargers 34-28 Jan. 18 in Mitchell. The Chargers were ranked number one in state polls at the time of the contest.

“The Hanson Classic Tournament was a great event to be a part of,” said coach Doug Osthus. “Our girls responded to playing on the big stage by showing great heart and intensity.”

De Smet also defeated the 7-3 Class A Hamlin Chargers 49-27 Tuesday at home.

The wins improved the Lady Bulldogs to 11-0 on the season. The latest polls now rank them in the top spot among all high school girls basketball teams in the state.
