The De Smet Bulldogs won the Region 3B championship Tuesday against Wolsey-Wessington in Madison to earn a spot next week in the state tournament at the Barnett Center in Aberdeen.
“What a night! We came out flat in the first half but had a great run in the last two minutes of the first half to tie the game,” coach Tom Hoek said. “At the end of the season we really learned a great deal of resiliency. Wolsey came out strong and capitalized on our lack of intensity in the first half, but I was proud of the way the boys responded to adversity. The boys set their main goal to get to the state tournament, and it feels great to accomplish that feat, but we still have 3 games and some work to do to prepare for a tough Warner team in the opening round.”
