Mausbach featured Memorial Day Speaker

Sgt. first- class Paul Mausbach, a 1989 graduate of De Smet High School, is the featured Memorial Day speaker May 30. The program begins at 10am at the De Smet American Legion Hall, followed by a service at De Smet Cementery and a potluck meal at the Legion Hall. Mausbach was born and raised in De Smet. He spent four years in the Marine Corps before joining the South Dakota National Guard in 1993. He earned his bachelor's degree from Northern State University in aberdeen and his master's degree from Black Hills State Uiversity in Spearfish. Mausbach has spent 27 years in the military. He was deployed from 1990- 91 in the Gulf War, and from 2004- 05 in Operation Iraqi Freedom. He is currently a readiness non- commissioned officer for Headquarters and Headquarters Company (HHC) at the 139th Bridgade Support Battalion (BSB) located in Brookings. Mausbach and his wife, Angelam have four children who attend school in Sioux Falls.
