Over 12 weeks we will journey 6,393 miles together as a community!
The Walk to Bethlem is an imagniary walk that encourages walkers to increase physical activity, spiritual growth and cultural awareness through a virtual tour to Bethlehem.

Walking is mentioned 247 times in the Bible. Our bodies were made for walking. Our joints need movement to maintain good range of motion. The benefits of of walking are numerous. Regular excerise can prevent depression, lengthen our lifespand, lower stress levels, relieve arthritis and back pain, strengthen muscles, bones and joints and improve sleep.

The walk is for everyone, all ages, all shapes and sizes and all fitnes levells. Everything counts, jogging, walking, swimming, biking, gym class, treadmills, vacuuming, shoveling snow, hikinh, playing basketball and any fitness class.

20 minutes od any continous excerise counts as 1 mile!
You will log your miles daily at home then weekly write them on the paper provided at the De Smet Event & Wellness Center or email them to Austie Albrecht at

Our total community miles will be tallied weekly and you can watch the progress on our map. So you will know how far we have walked. We will be making imaginary stops along the way to learn about different parts of the world.
We will begin our journey on October 2, 2016 and end on Christmas Day December 25, 2016 6,393 miles later. Look for weekly devotions and information on places we "pass throuygh" and other encouragements and motivation.
