The Laura Ingalls Wilder Pageant brings “Little House” to life!
Monday, January 23, 2017
Most people who were born and raised in the midwest know the story of, “Little House on the Prairie.” Many read Laura Ingalls Wilder’s books as children, and thanks to television, much of the world knows her story as well. The best part about her stories is that they’re real, and De Smet and the surrounding prairie is where they happened!
Each year, in celebration of her life and the events that she portrayed in her books, The Community of De Smet puts on the Laura Ingalls Wilder Pageant. Her family’s experiences are brought to life on the outdoor stage on the prairie where her stories actually happened. What better way to celebrate her life and her stories?!
Each year, the pageant puts on several presentations that attract thousands of visitors from all parts of the world. The next pageant (Summer 2017) will be held on July 7, 8, 9, 14, 15, 16, 21, 22, and 23.
The Laura Ingalls Wilder Pageant is a spectacular outdoor event held in the very place that her stories were taking place. Doesn’t it sound like it would be a lot of fun?!
